Stable Conversion

This extensive and innovative development from a former stable block into a large 4-bedroom family home is built around the original courtyard and draws on inspiration from the plantation bungalow.  The existing brick building was restored and internally renovated, and two large extensions were built in place of the old crumbling outbuildings. We created a large dining room and a cavernous kitchen with vaulted ceilings and two sets of glass bi-fold doors wrapping around the hardwood decked courtyard. Two symmetrical architectural glass and brick extensions at either side of the building created a sunny office and playroom at one end and a master bedroom with en-suite on the other.

We used natural materials throughout, cladding the dining room with rough treated timber and exposing all the beams. The wet underfloor heating system removed the need for radiators in the extensions. Floors were finished in dark oak wide plank flooring and large format travertine tiles in the kitchen, utility and bathroom areas.

What Our Clients Say

Heyland & Spratt (Michael, Victoria, Adam and the rest of the team) have been our partner from the very beginning.  We wanted to have the best house on the street and they did it! They were with us every step of the way and we cannot ask for anyone better than them to do the work for us.

Gia and Reza, Balham

Heyland & Spratt have done several jobs on our house and we have been more than happy to recommend their work to friends.  Michael is helpful and easy to work with and his team always turn up on time and do a good job.  We have had our house painted inside and out to a very high standard...

Mike and Sarah, Twickenham

Heyland & Spratt have steered us through a complex refurbishment and extension project on our house in Camberley.  From day one dealing with council bureaucracy to moving in.  Throughout he kept us informed and at peace! We are delighted with our new home.
